The city of skyscrapers and pythons. Seriously, I was walking on Brooklyn Bridge and a man carrying a large yellow python around his shoulders walked right past me. I yelped as the snake reared its head at me. It was an exciting moment and the only thing I regret now is that I didn't have the instinct to snap a photo in time!! New York is a never-ending list of amazing-ness, but here are some top highlights to check out:

1. Grand Central Station
When was the last time you got strolled into a train station and could marvel at giant, hanging glass chandeliers? This was dream come true for me as the Grand Central Station is almost a mythical place for me. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling depicted as the night sky!

2. Brooklyn Bridge
Get stunning views of the New York skyline and a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty when walking across this bridge. It takes about an hour, or an hour and a half, to cross the entire bridge depending on how often you stop to take photos. The stone arches are immensely tall and impressive. It's a truly beautiful bridge. And it gets windy, so watch your belongings.

3. Saks Fifth
It might seem cheesy walking into a high-end department store but it was worth it for the colours of the elevator. The whole thing looks like a Mondrian painting.

4. Broadway and Times Square
A dazzling street filled with towering LED screens. You might want to be careful just a bit if constant flashing lights cause you nausea and headaches. I found it pretty intense at night. It's definitely a cool, and almost mythical place, but it was crowded and the lights and screen animations were intense. Overall, a very cool thing to see where every screen is a giant ad marketing something to you.

Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) is a fascinating city. It's a city overflowing with wonders. You have to be THE pickiest person on earth if you can't find something you like here. With that being said, there are some top of the top highlights you must see when visiting Hong Kong.

1. and 2 Stroll along Tsim Sha Tsui and the Avenue of Stars
A boardwalk right along the harbour of Tsim Sha Tsui with the most famous view of Victoria Harbour. Best part: it's free to walk! Definitely come here during the day and in the evening to catch both views of the skyscrapers. All the towers are lit up at night and they flash advertising and play funky animations, making it a great chance to get some night time photos. Walk down further to the Avenue of Stars to view some celebrity handprints and the great statue of Bruce Lee.

3. and 4. Lantau Island for the Big Buddha
Lantau Island is home to the giant bronze Buddha. You might even be able to spot this Buddha on top of the mountain if you're ever riding on a bus towards Lantau Island. Take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car up over water and mountains to land at the historical village leading to the Big Buddha. During your cable car ride (it takes about 15 minutes for the entire trip), watch out for the airport island and you can see planes taking off. You'll also be able to see the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge. A 55 km bridge leading from Hong Kong SAR to Macau SAR. Once at the top, climb up several stairs to reach the Buddha and spot the lovely monastery in the distance.

Macau, a former Portuguese colony, is the Las Vega

Macau, a former Portuguese colony, is the Las Vegas of China. Some of the most famous casinos include The Venetian and The Grand Lisboa. A day trip from Hong Kong to Macau can be a great getaway to experience a hint of Portugal without going too far.

1. Marvel at the Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral
The ruins refer to the façade of the cathedral built by the Jesuits in 1640. The entire building caught fire in 1835 destroying everything but the façade. The face of the cathedral is beautifully preserved with carvings depicting biblical scenes. Take a walk down into the archaeological site below the cathedral to see the catacombs of Portuguese missionaries and other religious artifacts.

2. Stroll Lover's Lane with a view of St. Paul's Cathedral
Lover's Lane is literally a charming, adorable laneway on the side of St. Paul's Cathedral. The lane is flanked by tall, colourful buildings making it great for photo opportunities. You also get a sliver of a view of St. Paul's Cathedral.

3. Walk Along Senado Square
Senado Square is the main square in Macau surrounded by pastel-coloured buildings and paved with gorgeous mosaics.

4. Savour Classic Portuguese Fare at Portuçao
Head to the wonderful Portuçao restaurant for some savoury and classic Portuguese fare. We tried the succulent octopus, roasted piglet, gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), and chorizo seared table side inside a ceramic pig. Don't forget shishito peppers and order some crisp, white wine to go with all the scrumptious food.
