Hello, I’m Chloe, the travel blog writer

I’m the founder at The Roads Best Travelled. The travel writer behind all the curated travel guides you find on this travel blog.
Why did I start this travel blog?
There are heaps of posts about The top 10 things to do in… or, 5 perfect days in … that give endless lists of everything you could possibly do, eat, and see in a place.
I got tired with doom scrolling on a travel post that told me everything, yet gave no reasons on why those top 10, or 20, or 100 things were the top things to do, see, eat, or buy.
It was exhausting. I wanted depth, clear and practical info, mixed with good travel stories and tidbits. And I wasn’t finding those types of posts. So I decided to start my own blog and write the type of travel posts I needed.
What makes The Roads Best Travelled different?
At The Roads Best Travelled, my specialty is in creating travel guides that tell you the why behind visiting certain places. I talk about why you should tour a historical place, but also why you might want to skip it if it doesn’t fit your interests. Yes, you get permission to skip things, especially if you’re touring the land of temples that is Kyoto.
Let’s prioritize quality over quantity. If you’re still reading, we might’ve found a kindred spirit in each other already!
My itineraries balance a mix of cultural and historical activities with modern-day attractions. If you’re looking for balance between bistro budgets and splurge-worthy experiences, then you’re at the right travel blog.

And why am I qualified to do this kind of travel writing?
Because I’ve done the whole hostel thing where I’ve shared a room with 6 strangers and 1 bathroom. I’ve also been lucky to stay in a 5 star hotel in downtown Seville that checked every box for convenience and comfort.
Though I paid the price for it (literally!), I would’ve done it better if I had known how to balance the experiences I wanted. I learned some good money lessons from that 3 week Spain trip on spending, and saving, on both extreme ends of experiences (i.e. super cheap on one end, super expensive on the other).

So to help my fellow travellers avoid my mistakes, I show you where to splurge where it counts and where to save where it matters. My guides are curated to balance spending on experiences ranging from mid-tier to premium prices. In short, you’ll get advice on which bistros to go to for tasty, affordable meals to splurging selectively at Michelin-level dining that’s worth it.
Then there’s my professional career: my day job is in UX writing. I spend my days thinking about the major pain points users’ face when they use my company’s products. My job is to then figure out the best way for users to use my company’s products without causing them more problems in the process!
It’s the same attitude I take with writing my curated travel guides: how can I best serve my readers who want to travel well, discover the culture, history, and people of place, all the while maximizing their limited time and hard-earned cash. In short, I create guides that show you how to plan your trip with confidence but without the overwhelm.
UX and travel writing; travel stories mixed with practical travel tips. That’s what I envision for The Roads Best Travelled.
Who is Chloe when she’s not travelling?
Seeing the world is, no doubt, an amazing opportunity. But when I’m not hauling luggage across the globe, I’m a homebody who loves crocheting touques and scarves. If I hadn’t become a writer (be it travel or UX), I would’ve been a mycologist. Hunting for truffles in Italy in October during the harvest season is a dream trip of mine.

I truly hope that my travel guides boost your confidence to plan for your trips. I want them to be reassuring guides on every part of your journey. I hope that you’ll see new places, thanks to my guides, and that you’ll discover the culture and history of the great cities on this planet.
To start, download my 7-day travel planner and, when inspiration hits, note them down so you’re prepared for your next adventure when that plane ticket goes on sale!
Happy travels!
Chloe
